I just happened to be lunching at The Ledbury yesterday – a wino’s social get together – when news came through that the restaurant has won it’s 2nd Michelin star – cue high fives all round!
Though I’ve only eaten there twice, chef Brett Graham’s dishes have blown me away. And there was stiff competition yesterday from some high flying Burgundies, notably Henri Boillot Corton-Charlemagne 2004 and Armand Rousseau Mazy-Chamberton 2002. But like a fine wine, the devil’s in the detail, balance and definition, qualities which Graham’s menu has in spades.
As of 1st January 2010 the price of the lunch menu changed to £22.50 for 2 courses and 27.50 for 3 courses, but it’s still an absolute steal for cooking of this order. Why settle for anything less?
All best

As Vaughan and I don’t get down to London that often Sarah I have to admit I have never been to the Ledbury, but I have heard it is an excellent restaurant. A good friend, Keith Prothero, is a regular and says Brett Graham is an excellent chef.
As you say £22.50 for two courses and £27.50 for 3 is a steal. If you are ever in Birmingham visit Purnell’s restaurant…similar prices for lunch, imaginative cooking from chef Glyn Purnell (a true brummie) and an excellent wine list…oh and one Michelin star.
