Sarah Ahmed – The Wine Detective

Wine-searcher.com (the does what is says on the tin wine search engine) has just launched its free web magazine here.

In addition to news, it includes a science corner, architecture report and case study.  Otherwise, it’s quite focused on wine trade folk – the human interest factor – which makes for some revealing insights.  Perhaps not surprising that english fizz man Mike Roberts of Ridgeview loves Sancerre (good on him!), but he’s less impressed with Cristal and even less impressed with religion.

For my part, I enjoyed interviewing one of Portugal’s rising stars Conceito’s Rita Ferreira Marques (pictured) for “When we met” (see here), an as told encounter with a memorable glass or bottle of wine.   I’ll be writing up my visit with Marques  in the Douro Superior shortly – her wines in barrel were a particularly memorable encounter for me!
