I’ve been presenting Portuguese wines at The Wine Show in Islington today and head off to Alentejo in southern Portugal tomorrow for Vinipax and journo visits.
In London, the show goes on over the weekend and I cannot recommend highly enough buying some Esporao Reserve Branco 2008 on a special show 3 for 2 deal – I staggered home on the bus with a 6 pack! For a wine of such pedigree and complexity, it’s a steal at just over £7/bottle – indeed, it stole hearts at a tasting I presented to members of the trade and press last month.
Limited tickets for The Wine Show are still available at the door apparently and possibly online – check out the website here. And if you go, Castas’ stand have a superb Vinho Verde Alvarinho from the terrific 2007 vintage – Poema delivered all the heady fragrance and stonefruit of a Viognier cut with scintillating brisk acidity.
All best
