I’ve been maintaining a steady drip feed of reports about Portugal – the fruit of my tasting labours this last year in pursuit of my quest to select 50 Great Portuguese Wines. Reports have been based on producer visits, wine shows, a tasting at Lisbon’s Sala Ogival pictured (which is open to the public) and, towards the end of the year, a mountain of samples which I always acquire for the purposes of updating the Portugal pages for Hugh Johnson Pocket Wine. And, with 50 Great, they came even thicker and faster than usual! You’ll find my tasting notes of the high points of this particular mountain here.
This Thursday, 11 February, my 50 Great Portugese Wines will be unveiled, but if you fancy a punt, why not see if you can guess what I chose?
