The results of Decanter World Wine Awards were announced at London Wine Fair yesterday.
My panel awarded the competition’s first trophy for a Portuguese white wine – much to my delight, an Alvarinho from Moncoa e Melgaco!
And once again, fortified Moscatels performed brilliantly – this time two rare Roxos from Setubal bagged trophies, while the hotly contested trophy for red Northern Portugal over £10 went to a terrific 2009 Douro red.
